The mangrove Laguncularia racemosa grown in soil with 500 mol.m-3
NaCl increased chlorophyll a/b ratio when compared with control plants
(no addition of sodium chloride). Soluble protein was 3.47 and 9.11 mg.g-1
(f.w.) respectivelly in control and NaCl treated plants. Stomate frequence
increased from 132 to 191 (n/mm2) due to salt treatment. Also,
Na+ and Cl- accumulation encreased in leaf tissue
and Cl- accumulation was higher than Na+. Ca2+
and Mg2+ content decreased in leaf tissue as a result of sodium
chloride treatment.
